How Has Artificial Intelligence Impacted the Way We Communicate
Me: ‘Hey, Siri! Please set the reminder for my project meeting at 3:00 pm.’
Siri: Sure!
This is one of the recent conversations that I have had with my Apple Assistant, Siri. It’s not new for us now that Siri manages our tasks without even touching our phones as per our voice commands.
Since last year the world has been taken by storm due to Artificial Intelligence. Artificial intelligence is not a robot or an alien, but via apps and other services, it has started blending into our lives. With the use of Artificial intelligence, slowly and steadily, we will see how we use our devices now and how we will use them in the future.
- The Evolution of the Voice Assistants:
The voice-activated product’s invention dated back to 1922, named Radio Rex. This toy had a dog that would come out of its house when called ‘Rex.’ This was all done through electromagnetic frequencies and, after 20 years, used in computers.
The pain point of the voice assistants is to understand what the humans are saying and then respond to them accordingly. To deal with the challenge Natural Language Processing (NLP) is used. NLP is an advanced technology that understands human voices and interacts with them.
- The Use of Voice Assistants in Daily Communication:
Due to our fast-paced lives, we often tend to forget things. With the integration of AI into smartphones, it has become very convenient to manage our schedules. We have become highly dependent on AI to set important reminders, inform us about the weather and manage our deadlines.
Moreover, the use of voice-controlled home systems has fully automated our houses. If we have forgotten to turn off the AC, then by one command on the phone, it will be switched off. With the house automation system, we can get rid of high-paying bills if we forget to switch off the devices when we are not around.
- The Impact of AI on the Workplace Communications
As per the study conducted by Forbes, around 73 percent of organizations are using and planning to use Chatbots in their communication systems. Around 61 percent of businesses use AI to optimize their emails.
Chatbot systems cater to customer requests quickly, leading to customer satisfaction. These chatbots can also handle complicated customer requests and queries, reducing dependence on call center agents.
However, statistics have revealed that around 30 percent of organizations are concerned about misleading information AI can provide customers. This will lead to a negative impact on the customers.
Conclusion:
AI has started to impact our daily communication. By leveraging the potential of AI in our interactions, we can benefit from increased personalization, efficiency, and ease. However, we should be mindful of potential risks such as dependency on AI apps and services and the spread of misleading information. If we can combat these issues, we can use AI to its optimum level and secure utmost benefits.
